The opening ceremony of the 25th anniversary of the international real estate show in Cannes  - MIPIM 2014, took place on March 11, 2014. In the official program of the announced presentations, a presentation of the development  project  “ Belgrade Waterfront" was held at the stand of "Emaar Properties",  within the "Riviera" exhibition level. The presentation was held by the President of the Provisional Council of the City of Belgrade, Siniša Mali and Rowina Armale, Development Manager  of "Trade Winds" from the United Arab Emirates.

The most important information regarding this, by all means, the biggest project in the region and beyond was presented to approximately hundred visitors. The exhibited model showed visually in a very attractive way the multi-purpose nature of the use of the new facilities. Within the existing 100ha next to the River Sava, the territories were determined conceptually, and are currently being identified with the plateau of the old railway station in Belgrade. The territory which is being developed encompasses the area from the Gazela bridge on one side, to the bridge in Brankova street on the other side of the river Sava , and the third being the current tram traffic communication along the Karađorđeva and Savska  street. Over the next eight years, on more than 1.8 million square meters a completely new part of Belgrade with unique content will be developed.

As stated during the presentation, the most important thing Belgrade recommended itself to be selected for a partner, apart from the location the location, is the river Sava. "Emaar Properties” developed the majority of their projects in the desert, water had to be brought for the purpose of achieving effectiveness of project. In the project "Belgrade Waterfront", water already exists within the project. The only thing that had to be done, was to design the appropriate sequencing and positioning of business content. The global companies involved in urban development took care of that.

On the territory that is being developed are included and provided all the elements that adorn the heterogeneity of these and similar projects, as well as the inevitable housing and business operations facilities. From business, to offices and a large shopping mall, retail business  will be also be positioned here. Apart from that, there will be no lack of hotel facilities. At this point, it should be particularly emphasized that the Savamala territory will have a special role in the  project "Belgrade Waterfront". To some extent, it will acquire a new look, but the cultural heritage and existing traditions will be fully preserved.

The hosts of this year's MIPIM anniversary were Russia, Turkey and Brazil. The very selection of the  countries indicates a further process of globalization, but also in some way a polarization - grouping within this process. This year’s  visit is within the limits of  the past few years. The accompanying programs and conferences have achieved a remarkable quality.

At this year's MIPIM, Serbia did not have an exhibition stand. However, the presentation of the "Belgrade Waterfront" project kept Serbia in the view of interested investors. After a successfully held presentation to the visitors to present around the model, in informal conversation, many questions were asked, pointing to the fact that Serbia’s absence from the exhibition lights was not unnoticed.

We sincerely hope that Serbia will, after a year long break, have its own exhibition stand again at  its traditional place.
